Using the Heavy contestant in The Finals means you are breaking down the environment and devastating your opponents. This contestant has weapons that focus on destruction, quickly dispatching Light contestants and creating shortcuts. If you aren’t careful, it’s easy to create a character that looks intimidating but doesn’t perform as well in combat. Here are some ideas to create the best Heavy build in The Finals and avoid letting your team down.

Best Heavy Sledgehammer Build

  • Primary Weapon: Sledgehammer
  • Specialization: Mesh Shield
  • Gadgets: Goo Grenade, Pyro Grenade, RPG-7

This is the best Heavy build in The Finals for players who prefer getting up close with their enemies. The Sledgehammer is one of the most powerful melee weapons in the game, dealing great damage with each swing. Even getting hit once is enough to leave a contestant hurting, while two swings could take out a Light contestant. This does leave you vulnerable to gunfire, which is where the Mesh Shield comes in.

Using the Mesh Shield sets up a barrier that absorbs a certain amount of gunfire. This allows you to do a frontal charge while protecting yourself against enemies that fire at you. The Mesh Shield only protects your frontal area, but it’s all you need when you close in on enemies. A few swings of your Sledgehammer and even other Heavy contestants can’t take the pressure. It’s also easy for players to use the controller since you don’t aim as much compared to other builds.

Goo Grenades are perfect for boxing in enemies or luring them into a path that leads to your Sledgehammer. Pyro Grenades force enemies to abandon enemy positions, allowing you to pick them off when they run outside. You can use the RPG-7 for great damage, but it’s also perfect for destroying the environment. If a firefight is happening above you, shoot the ceiling to bring enemies to you. You can also do the reverse: firing the ground near approaching enemies to buy yourself some time.

Best Lewis Gun Build

  • Primary Weapon: Lewis Gun
  • Specialization: Charge N’ Slam
  • Gadgets: C4, Dome Shield, RPG-7

The Lewis Gun packs incredible firepower and lets the Heavy contestant fight from a distance. This is one of the best Heavy builds in The Finals for creating paths and bringing down groups of enemies. While it doesn’t have the fastest fire rate, each shot from the Lewis Gun has enough power to force the target to think twice. It’s also accurate from a distance, turning your Heavy Contestant into an effective mid-range fighter.

Charge N’ Slam is great for creating paths but also running into enemies. It’s similar to the Light Contestant’s Evasive Dash but moves forward. Any unlucky opponent will take great damage or be thrown aside. This is useful for close-combat situations or if you spot a prime opportunity to steal an opponent’s vault.

Both C4 and the RPG-7 are excellent for destroying the environment and opening up new paths. Any opponent unlucky enough to be in the blast radius will likely not survive. The Dome Shield protects your team from enemy fire and lets them hold a defensive position. Other players must get close if they want to hurt you, giving your team a great opportunity to take out attackers.
