Fontaine stands out for all its technological inventions, such as the clockwork meka, robots that act as policemen. However, there are other sophisticated machines and gadgets of various sizes created by the Fontaine Research Institute. For example, the Subdetection Unit is a local specialty designed for monitoring environmental data, so you will see them in various locations in Genshin Impact. If you’re looking for these items, you should be careful and open your eyes well. These small, flying robot bugs can blend very well with the environment.

In Fontaine, approximately 71 Subdetection Units are scattered all over the northern area. Here, we have broken down the best farming route to get the Subdetection Units in Genshin Impact:

1. You can start by teleporting to Mount Esus East. Head along the coast to the southwest waterfall. There, you will find a Subdetection Unit on the mini island, 2 more across. There wil be 2 more where the waterfall starts, next to the The Knave Domain.

2. Continue to The Statue of the Seven, where there will be 4 Subdetection Units on the same platform.

3. Cross the ruined bridge, and at the pier, you will find 2 Subdetection Units.

4. The next ruins will have 2 Subdetection Units.

5. Continue to the next teleport waypoint to the west, where there will be another 4 Subdetection Units.

8. From the lake, cross the island to the north until you find the Central Laboratory Ruins’ river. On one side, there will be 3 Subdetection Units, and on the other side, only one.

9. Heading north, continue to some ruins very close to the edge of the map. There will be 2 more Subdetection Units.

10. Between all the ruins southeast to the next waypoint, there will be up to 9 Subdetection Units.

11. You will find 11 Subdetection Units in the northwest ruins.

12. Continue to the map boundary, heading northwest for another 3 Subdetection Units.

13. Follow the map border to the southeast towards the last ruins. There you will find 3 more Subdetection Units.

14. There will be another Subdetection Unit at the pier and another down the ruin’s mountain.

15. For the last 2 Subdetection Units, you must unlock Fortress of Meropide and go to B6.

Another way to make it easier for you to collect materials in Fontaine is by having Lyney. His passive will allow you to see the Subdetection Unit and other local specialties on the mini-map of Genshin Impact. As always, we recommend grabbing any other material you see while exploring all Subdetection Unit locations in Genshin Impact. You might need those materials for the next new character.
