Pickpocketing allows you to take any item you want without paying any Gold. This way you can steal very valuable and expensive items that you would not normally be able to buy. But for this, your character’s thieving skills must be highly developed, otherwise, you won’t be able to steal every item you want.

But there are a few items you need to find before pickpocketing in BG3. While these items aren’t essential, they make your job a lot easier and can be obtained almost immediately at the beginning of the game. Items that increase your Sleight of Hand ability, which is useful in theft, increase your chances of stealing significantly.

  • Smuggler’s Ring (Astarion)
  • Silver Pendant (Gale)

These items will make your job a lot easier when stealing in Baldurs Gate 3.

  1. First, get the Smuggler’s Ring for Astarion.
  2. Then get the Silver Pendant for Gale.
  3. Come to the NPC you want to pickpocket in BG3. If you have Shadowheart in your party, use Cat’s Grace from Enchance Ability on Astarion.
  4. Then use the Guidance ability from the Silver Pendant on Astarion again.
  5. You are now ready for pickpocketing in BG3. Enter Turn-Based Mode and take turns stealing the items you want.
  6. But don’t forget to save often in case something goes wrong.

If you want to steal items found on the ground, you can summon a cat with the Find Familiar ability to draw the attention of NPCs to the cat. Your thief character can then steal the items on the ground.

Finally, if you want to steal in a crowded area, you can use the Fog or Darkness abilities to steal unnoticed.
