Bethesda has just announced a new The Elder Scrolls game, but it’s not The Elder Scrolls VI. Now that Starfield is out, many fans have expected more news on TES 6, but unfortunately that’s still a ways off. Instead, Bethesda has made a social media post announcing news of The Elder Scrolls: Castles, a new mobile game from the makers of Fallout Shelter. Slated to come out for iOS and Android platforms, TES: Castles will put players in charge of their own castle – and hopefully keep them busy until we get more news of a Skyrim sequel.
The Elder Scrolls: Castles Is Coming to Mobile Platforms Soon
The Elder Scrolls: Castles is the latest project from the team behind Fallout Shelter, a mobile game that lets players build and manage a fully customizable underground shelter. In that same vein, The Elder Scrolls: Castles will reportedly put players in charge of a pocket-sized medieval world, where one real-world day is equal to an in-game year. Like many other life sims, players will have to manage the world as its citizens live and die, with potential complications spawning by the minute.
According to Bethesda, The Elder Scrolls: Castles is currently available on mobile platforms in the Philippines but will be made available in other countries soon. The game will reportedly only be available on iOS and Android to start, but may migrate to other platforms as Fallout Shelter did. Interested players can pre-order the game on Bethesda’s official website here.
Given how The Elder Scrolls‘ last venture in mobile gaming went with The Elder Scrolls: Blades, many fans are likely waiting to see how this new project will turn out. As Castles won’t be following the usual Elder Scrolls format as an action-adventure RPG game, it’ll be interesting to see how the new mobile game ties into the larger franchise while still deviating from the original path.
Be sure to stay tuned to Bethesda for more updates on The Elder Scrolls: Castles as it continues development.
