One of the biggest problems for The Nintendo Switch, or any consoles launch, revolves around the lack of games currently on the system. Well, it seems that Bethesda might solve that issue all by themselves. Alongside Skyrim, Doom and Wolfenstein II are both getting Switch ports.

The publisher announced during the Direct event that both games would be coming to the portable console. Doom will arrive later this holiday season, while Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will not be here till 2018, much later than its Xbox One, PS4, and PC version, which will be out next month.

Not only will it be important for the Switch to have more games, it’s also an important step in landing more third party platforms. Nintendo has always struggled with getting big named AAA products on their consoles, instead relying on different iterations of franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Metroid.

Doom and Wolfenstein will join Skyrim, as well as the recently announced 2011 Rockstar game L.A Noire. Skyrim was finally given a tentative release date of November 17th, 2017, while L.A Noire will release just three days before on November 14th, 2017.

It is important to note that Doom will feature not only its single player campaign, but multiplayer as well. While the 2016 reboot was widely touted and praised for its single player over its online experience, the fact that it can be played on the go may breathe new life into the multiplayer portion of the game.

It should be interesting to see how the two ports will fair against the current Switch champion, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the upcoming anticipated release for Mario Odyssey.
