There has been an “Awakening”, and it’s not just in reference to the new Star Wars movie, releasing soon. In its’ keynote address at PSX, Activision announced the first DLC to be released for Black Ops 3.

The DLC is titled “Awakening” and is the first of four planned expansions for the series. The release of “Awakening” will follow the same format of previous DLC in providing four new multiplayer maps as well as a new zombies map. The new maps announced are Skyjacked, Rise, Splash, Gauntlet as well as the new zombie map Der Eisendrachen. The German-to-English translation for Der Eisendrachen is “The Iron Dragon.” The Skyjacked map is rumored to be a possible remake of the Black Ops 2 map “Hijacked.” We may also see some potentially new weapons or weapon skins with this DLC.

No exact date has been listed yet for “Awakening”, but we can expect to see it released early in 2016. If you’ll remember back in June of this year Activision announced a partnership with Playstation which will bring all DLC for Black Ops 3 to their consoles exclusively for 30 days before it’s released on other platforms.
