Blizzard recently announced major plans for the future of World of Warcraft in the form of its sixth expansion: Legion. World of Warcraft has been around for over a decade and while its player base has seen losses as of late, it remains the number 1 subscription based game on the planet. The way Blizzard is able to achieve this is by constantly changing the game. That being said, Legion is perhaps the biggest expansion to World of Warcraft yet.
The biggest addition being the new hero class, the Demon Hunter. As a Demon Hunter you are a member of the Illidari, the elite guard of Illidan Stormrage and like the Death Knight, Demon Hunters will start at a higher level than other classes. This new class wears leather armor and uses war glaives similar to Illidan’s weapons for melee combat. Unlike World of Warcraft’s other classes the Demon Hunter will only have two specializations: Havoc for damage and Vengeance for tanking. In combat Demon Hunters will be extremely mobile using abilities to dive into and vault out of combat. Demon Hunters will also have the ability to double jump.
In the expansion players will embark on a class quest that will earn them an artifact weapon. These weapons come from Warcraft lore like Thrall’s Doomhammer or the famed blade Ashbringer. These weapons will grow in power with your character and its appearance will be customizable. Each class will have their own Order Halls in Azeroth where they can find important NPC’s and upgrade their Artifacts.
Players will be able to explore a brand new continent, The Broken Isles located near The Maelstrom where you will take on The Burning Legion around the ancient Sargeras’ tomb. The Broken Isles’ regions include Highmountain, Stormheim, Val’shara, Suramar, Azsuna, and The Broken Shore. Each with their own part to play in the demonic invasion.
PVP progression will also receive its own overhaul giving players talents and abilities unique to PVP encounters. Some other additions are: New Dungeons and Raids, World Bosses, an improved transmogrification system, new social features, a new level cap of 110, and more.
World of Warcraft: Legion will enter beta later this year.
