During an interview with MCV Sony’s Fergal Gara revealed that Bloodborne sales took them by surprise saying:
“It did surprise us, We had expectations to do well. We looked at the Souls series as a frame of reference, and we thought we could do better than that. We did – and then some. Relative to some of our sister territories, we were being quite ambitious, but even that proved to be conservative. I think Bloodborne might have just landed just at the right time; it was a relatively quiet time, it was a very high quality title and a great platform differentiator for us. We were caught a little bit behind in terms of the volume, but we were able to chase it and maximise its potential.”
Bloodborne was well received by critic’s with critical acclaim and praise earning it a Meta Critic score of 92/100 with sales surpassing the 1 million mark as of April 2015. Its now tied with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt for highest rated title on the Playstation 4.
Bloodborne was created by From Software and is an action adventure game that follows a hunter through the fictional city of Yharnam, whose inhabitants have all been afflicted with an abnormal blood borne disease.
Thats where they get the title from then I guess?
How do you feel about Bloodborne, did you buy it as a time killer only to have it take over your life?
Did you avoid it like me? Knowing that patience isn’t your strong point, having tried Dark Souls and declaring you’d never get sucked into the hype again.
