What started as a sad story of two children being robbed at their lemonade stand in Boston, Massachusetts, has turned into one about embracing community after everyone came together to support the kids with a new lemonade stand.
According to the person who posted the video, the effort brought various locals to a new stand to help sort of reverse the experience that the two young kids had. Commenters shared their support for the wholesome endeavor, with many still in disbelief that anyone would commit such a crime.
The above video was posted to TikTok and features what looks to be a little over a block of residents chatting with one another, all while holding cups of lemonade. According to the poster, the two children had their money taken from them in an armed robbery that left the community shocked.
He says that the street on which the new lemonade sale took place was blocked off by officers in an attempt to bring a new memory to the children. The children even supposedly ran out of cups at some point, leaving customers waiting over 20 minutes while they replenished, which is a great problem to have.
According to the Boston Police Department, the initial incident happened on June 10 when a 14-year-old boy approached the lemonade stand and asked the two children manning it if they accepted Apple Pay. Before they could respond, the boy brandished a weapon and took a box that contained their earnings.
The suspect was officially apprehended on June 12, when he was charged with two counts of armed robbery and two counts of unlawful possession of a firearm.
