Brie Garcia is a former wrestler, reality TV star, and entrepreneur, but her greatest role is being a mom. The star is mother to daughter Birdie, 7, and son Buddy, 3, with husband Bryan Danielson. While the family tries to maintain privacy, Brie isn’t shy about sharing details about her kids. Recently, she admitted that Birdie has inherited one of her bad traits.
Brie Garcia Hopes Her Daughter Doesn’t Become a People Pleaser
Birdie is a mini version of her famous mother. Thanks to Total Bellas and Brie’s social media pages, fans have caught a glimpse of the young girl’s personality. As with many parents, Garcia wondered if her daughter would inherit any of her traits. During a recent interview with Niki Buchanan of The Female Quotient, the star revealed one bad trait she doesn’t want Birdie to have.
I’m a people pleaser. And so much growing up, I wouldn’t voice my opinion because I [didn’t] want to hurt people’s feelings or I wanted everyone to feel good, and I don’t want my daughter to do the same thing.
Unfortunately, the mom has started to notice Birdie picking up on that trait.
She’s seven, but I’ll still see her do certain things, and I’m like, ‘You actually don’t have to agree. You don’t have to say hi.’ And I wanted – I needed someone to almost tell me that when I was younger.
The former WWE champion was able to break her bad habit through “20 years of therapy and a lot of retreats.” When it comes to teaching Birdie about not being a people pleaser, the mom is taking a careful approach.
But with my daughter, I look at things that I wish, not that I wish were different, but that I had to work hard on, and I try to educate her on that.
I also want her to be your own person. I don’t want to disrupt whatever her soul and her purpose is supposed to be in this world. So I kind of just feel like I have to kind her.
Birdie has a great role model in her mother. Brie and her twin sister Nikki Garcia are considered inspirations in the sports and entrepreneurial world. Whether they were breaking barriers in wrestling or establishing another business venture, they were unstoppable.
As for whether Birdie will follow in her parents’ footsteps of a wrestling career, the former Divas Champion has mixed feelings. In a May 2023 interview with Us Weekly, she revealed her thoughts on the idea.
I go back and forth with Birdie because there’s a part of Bird where she’s an entertainer, where she loves to be creative and she’s very artistic and loves to do things in front of an audience. But she also doesn’t like to be physical so sometimes I’m like, ‘Hmm, I don’t know.’ I will say I would be honored if they did, because anytime your kids look up to you and they want to follow your footsteps you’re just like, ‘Oh, my gosh.’
Since retiring from WWE and quitting Total Bellas, Brie Garcia and her family have led a private life. However, the mom is always sharing photos and stories of her adventures in motherhood, especially with her little Birdie.
