Bungie Just Made Datto Guardians’ Least Favorite Destiny 2 Streamer

And you thought you’d never use that gun again.

So, if you’re a big part of the Destiny 2 community, then there’s a good chance that you know who the streamer Datto is. With some of the recent changes that Bungie announced to go live when The Final Shape releases, Datto has realized that he might just have talked thousands of Guardians into dismantling gear that, until now, was entirely useless. Loads of Destiny 2 players have been going absolutely wild on Twitter/X, and I honestly can’t blame them. But really, some of their comments have me cracking up.

Datto Cancels Destiny 2 Vault Cleaning Season Forever

Datto’s pretty good at everything ‘Destiny,’ but one of those things just so happens to be helping Guardians clear out their cluttered vaults. Not only is he great at it, but he actually has quite a few videos posted for the exact purpose of cleaning out other Guardians’ Vaults and getting rid of sunset weapons. Needless to say, players are less than pleased now that Bungie decided to sunset sunsetting.

Honestly, Datto couldn’t have known this was going to happen, and it’s obvious that he definitely feels some form of regret. Sure, loads of us have been personally victimized by Datto’s Vault Cleaning methods, but if you stop to really think about it, Datto kind of screwed himself over too. Look at all the Power-Limited gear that he probably dismantled of his own as well. Let’s face it, Datto himself has even fallen victim to his ways, and the Destiny 2 community is definitely here to let him know about it.

Now, let’s take a look at the other side of it. Yes, Bungie threw us for a loop with this one and nobody (Like seriously, nobody) saw it coming, but that isn’t necessarily the worst thing. Look at all the Guardians who just couldn’t let go of those sunset weapons that they loved so much. Many players, like the hundreds commenting on Datto’s post, are jumping for joy because they kept their weapons even when Datto told them to ditch them. These “hoarders” might have been onto something.

Sooo you're telling me my hoarding paid off 😈

However, there’s another angle from which we can look at this. Think back to when all the legacy gear was still active and being used. What were the best perks available then? Surely not anything that compares to the awesome origin traits and perks we have now. Maybe, just maybe, Datto’s Vault Cleaning season was a blessing in disguise. Even with a higher Power Level, these weapons wouldn’t have been worth much compared to more recent weapons with the rolls they had on them back then. Now, we all have more vault space to fill our arsenals with bigger, better, and much more aggressive weapons.

Should we be thanking Datto? It’s totally up to you, but I would. Bungie’s doing their best to up their game and make Destiny 2 enjoyable again, and I think they’re doing a fine job of it.
