Caleb McLaughlin, one of the brightest stars of Stranger Things, recently sat down with BET to discuss season 5 of Netflix’s biggest hit. Sinclair, who has starred as Lucas Sinclair since the very beginning of Stranger Things, has stated that the final season of the show will be delayed because of the writer’s strike. However, he and his co-stars also understand the need for the delay and that “the wait will be worth it.”
Like many other TV shows and movies, Netflix’s Stranger Things has had its production schedule affected by the WGA Strike. Fans of the show are reasonably frustrated by the delay the strike has caused, especially since Stranger Things season 5 will be the show’s finale. Still, Caleb McLaughlin has explained that the Duffer brothers will be waiting for the strike to reach an agreement because “to build up a great story, you need writers.” Regarding the fanbase’s frustration at the delay, McLaughlin reassured fans that “things happen for a reason.”
“Maybe this will give us time to brainstorm different ideas for the new season or maybe introduce a new character,” he speculated, according to Comicbook.com, “At this time, I’m just waiting on the word for us to hop back into filming.”
Caleb McLaughlin is Keeping Busy During the ‘Stranger Things’ Delay
For his part, Caleb McLaughlin has said that he’s going to be using the Stranger Things season 5 delay to “create [his] own stuff” and work on his music. Aside from his best-known role in Stranger Things, McLaughlin is also a recent addition to Shooting Stars, a LeBron James biopic where he plays Lil Dru Joyce III, LeBron’s real-life high school friend. Also on his plate for this year is The Book of Clarence and Deliverance, two films directed by Jeymes Samuels and Lee Daniels, respectively. McLaughlin has stated that his new roles have required him to step out of his Lucas Sinclair-shaped comfort zone, but he’s not too worried about the transition.
“I call myself a chameleon,” McLaughlin told BET, “as I feel I can adapt to any role.”
Stranger Things season 5 is currently expected to see a 2025 release on Netflix. Seasons 1-4 of Stranger Things, starring Caleb McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair, are currently available on Netflix.
