The Flash season 8 reignited the passion of fans of the series, with the movie to premiere in LA, on June 12. But as they were beginning to grow to love the show more, it came to a close. Just last month, viewers who often wait for the weekly drop of episodes to binge watch, bade their farewell to the show after the final episode dropped. Nonetheless, out of sight has never been out of mind as fans have refused to part with the eventful storyline. Despite saying goodbye to The Flash, fans would consider it’s not nice to not remember the season that ushered in its season 9. So here is a walk down memory street.
The Flash Season 8 Recap
Season 8 of The Flash had its dose of ecstasy for fans. Unlike season 7, it was laced with intriguing scenes that were somewhat mind-blowing and unexpected.
Fans witnessed Barry Allen aka Flash in a melancholic mood as he grieved what was seen as a self-inflicted pain. The superhero believed his lightning killed Iris. While he was nursing his grief, Thawne (Reverse Flash) reappeared in his full glory. What followed was a rivalry between these two forces, with one representing good and the other, bad.
Indeed, Thawne was a thorn in Barry‘s skin, he tried to make him relive his past hurts, thereby intensifying his hatred. But before Barry could strike, Nora and Bart prevented him from killing Thawne.
Fortunately for the viewers, they are easily put out of their misery as they see what Barry doesn’t — Iris never died because her time was not up. Meanwhile, Thawne made a remarkable entry after being coerced to tap into the Negative Speed Force. His aim is to bring Barry’s world to ruins while killing the superhero.
Though the rivals engaged in a death-themed battle, in the end, good triumphed. Thawne was consumed by the strength of the evil that overtook him, while Barry succeeded in retrieving Nora, Bart, and Meena. The action doesn’t end there— he and Iris reunited, and the universe was redeemed.
The Flash season 8 wrapped up its story but left enough intrigue for its next season, which in Iris and Barry’s world will be 2049.
Flashback To When The Flash Began
In a not-so-distant past— October 2014, The Flash debuted on The CW. As expected, the plot was centered on the DC Comics figure, Barry Allen aka Flash. It ran for nearly a year, releasing twenty-three episodes in total and cupping a handful of viewers with every action.
The Flash Fandom Debate Binge-Watching Season 8
Last year, The Flash fandom was filled with doubters, some could not reconcile the previous season. They believed season 7 was cramped with unnecessary scenes and a shallow storyline. But following the release of season 8, some chimed in good words for the plot. It was evident that the showrunners recovered their fanbase.
On Reddit, fans discussed whether season 8 was worth their time. Without mincing words, one fan asked, “is flash season 8 any good?”
Some commenters agreed that it was way better than season 7, but there were a few episodes unworthy of praise. An ardent viewer analyzed why it is binge-worthy. According to the Reddit user, spicing up the story with some “crossover events” and introducing legends like Thawne was the right fix the show needed.
The Flash Season 9 Is Done & Dusted
In February 2023, The Flash season 9 premiered and wrapped up in May 2023. Set in Arrowverse, again, Barry is saddled with his rescue mission as he goes up against a host of enemies. The list included Red Death, Cobalt Blue, and Bloodwork. The series features thirteen episodes and has been earmarked as the final season and conclusion of Arrowverse.
The Flash Cast Making The Action Worthwhile
Some have remained OG cast on The Flash series, while others have come and gone. But they all made their mark on the show. Some of the cast members worthy of mention include Grant Gustin (Barry Allen), Candice Patton (Iris), Danielle Panabaker (Caitlin Snow), and Tom Cavanagh (Thawne). Patrick Sabongui (Detective David), Rick Cosnett (Detective Eddie), and Michelle Harrison (Nora Allen) all started and ended the series together.
Should Fans Anticipate a Season 10?
Well, the answer is NO. The series has developed a wholesome story that needed to end with its finale. Additionally, during its renewal, the producers emphasized that the latest season would be the end. Sadly, every good thing must end, and fans can surely understand that. All they are left with are memories of the most interesting seasons.
The Flash Series Vs The Flash Movie
Season 9 of The Flash series is not to be confused with The Flash movie, as this is possible, especially since the latter was set to release weeks after The Flash final season. It is still a Barry Allen-led superhero adventure, but as expected, it is played by a different actor. Also, the storyline varies.
The Flash, which is an upcoming movie ready for release this month, will have Ezra Miller as the lead character. The movie follows the story of Flash embarking on time travel to save his mother from dying.
