A California investigator thought she was following a man on a work trip to San Francisco. Instead, her four-hour surveillance job led her to Los Angeles International Airport, where she spotted him traveling with another woman. The investigator said her client had suspected something was wrong after noticing changes in her boyfriend’s behavior.

The California investigator said a female client hired her after becoming suspicious of her boyfriend, Matthew, who told her he planned to drive to San Francisco for work and stay there for five days. According to the investigator, the couple had been together for two years, but the woman said Matthew had been hiding his phone and coming home from work late.
The investigator was hired for four hours to follow Matthew and see whether he picked anyone up along the way. Matthew packed a suitcase into his vehicle and left, but instead of continuing toward San Francisco, he eventually parked in a structure, got out and entered a black car.
The investigator followed the second vehicle for about an hour and 44 minutes until it reached LAX. Matthew then got out with a woman, and the investigator followed them inside the airport.
The investigator said she could not determine their destination. She thought the area looked like it could be for a Hawaii flight, but Japan was also visible nearby, so she could not confirm where the pair was going. She also said the two appeared to act as if they did not know each other after getting out of the vehicle.
In her report to the client, the investigator clarified that Matthew was apparently taking a trip, but he was not driving to San Francisco as he had said. Instead, he left his vehicle in a parking structure, transferred to another car and continued to LAX with another woman. The surveillance was then discontinued, leaving their final destination unknown.
