A California man was caught on camera allegedly smoking fentanyl on a public bus in Los Angeles during a free bus day event, prompting concern over public safety and drug use in shared spaces. The incident gained attention as it raises concerns about drug use on public transit and the risks it can pose to passengers.

The video began circulating across multiple social media platforms, quickly gaining traction. On Reddit, the clip received more than 8,800 upvotes and over 400 comments. On X, formerly Twitter, it drew over 1.8 million views, along with around 15,000 likes and hundreds of replies. The wide reach of the video reflects how incidents involving public safety on transit systems often trigger strong online discussion.

The footage shows a tense exchange between the person filming and the man accused of smoking fentanyl. The man appears to dismiss the concern and focuses instead on being recorded, questioning why he is being filmed.

At one point, he denies smoking despite what is shown in the clip and turns his phone toward the cameraman, taking a video in response. He also accuses the person filming of being the one smoking. The situation escalates until the bus driver intervenes and tells the man to get off. Even as he leaves, he continues to argue and maintain that he did nothing wrong.

The video does not independently confirm the substance being used, but the person filming claims it was fentanyl. The incident reportedly took place during a free bus day, which typically sees higher ridership. No physical altercation is shown, and it is unclear whether any further action was taken after the man exited the bus. The presence of other passengers, including claims that children were onboard, has added to concerns about safety and exposure in a confined public space.

California Internet Reacts to Bus Incident

Online reactions were largely critical of the man’s behavior, with many focusing on the risks of drug use in a shared environment.“What an idiot, his main concern is that he is being filmed, which is perfectly legal in public. Shame on him for exposing all those people to a highly deadly substance and having no accountability or remorse,” one user wrote. Others mocked his response, calling it a weak “no u” type of defense.

Some users speculated about why the man reacted so strongly to being recorded.“We are watching a man realize that his family back home is about to throw down the rehab hammer and the party he’s been having in the US is now over,” one comment read, while noting it was only a theory. Others focused more on the broader issue, pointing out that fentanyl use carries a high risk of overdose and that using it in public places could endanger both the individual and those nearby.
