A woman in San Francisco, California, decided to celebrate her birthday alongside her family. Her family unfortunately passed away, but that wouldn’t stop her plans. She held her party with the remains of her father, mother, sister, and dog, all of which were wearing party hats.
Amy Soup shared her unorthodox birthday celebration on TikTok. She is a content creator who often shares posts about grief following her family’s passing. The clip attached above quickly gained traction, garnering 206,200 views, 26,000 likes, and more than 400 comments.
The California woman showed exactly how she celebrated her birthday alongside her family. Each member’s ashes were stored in Whiskware stackable containers turned urns, and they had Mandalorian and Grogu stickers on them. Most notably, Amy placed colorful party hats on top of each of them. The remains belonged to her mom, dad, sister, and dog.
“They are dressed up and ready to party!” Amy said, and then showed her birthday party decorations, all still up from last year’s celebration. She added, “That would probably drive most people crazy, but I actually just forgot it was there. And now it’s serving its purpose again cause it’s my birthday again.”
Family Passing
In a previous video, Amy explained how her family members passed away. It all started back in May 2014, when her mother was diagnosed with Stage 4 uterine cancer. Her sister, dealing with health issues of her own, decided to go to the doctor as a result, freaking out about her mother’s diagnosis.
Amy’s sister was immediately admitted and was placed on life support. She passed away shortly after. Around 10 months after she died, and after Amy’s mother went into remission, her father passed away from hepatitis C complications.
“He actually passed on my brother’s birthday, which is kinda crazy,” the California woman said.
Finally, her mother passed away in April 2019, months after her cancer came back.
Reactions
The birthday celebration shocked the viewers, but most of them reacted with the same energy. One asked, “Party seems a bit dead. Maybe some music?” Another one commented, “Happy birthday. What did they get you?“
The lighthearted comments kept going. One wrote, “You are the life of the party, it looks like.” Another one added, “They showed up matching and didn’t give you the memo? That’s a little rude.”
Finally, some viewers worried about Amy, with one asking, “Love dark humor, sure. But honestly, are you okay?” She answered, “I’m ok! Thank you for asking! Some days are harder than others!“
