Call of Duty is off to a great start this year with the Black Ops 6 Zombies, and we’re receiving the first DLC map so fast, it’s kind of unbelievable. Citadelle des Morts certainly has taken fans by storm in the past couple of days, and Treyarch just can’t stop shoving info and details about this map into our eyes with trailers and Intel Drops for Black Ops 6 Zombies. Seriously, that is enough, sir.
Let’s put it this way: We’re told that we’re about to play a new Zombies map that’s set in a castle filled with mysteries and easter eggs. We get to see the logo and a glimpse of what’s waiting for us there, and I’m literally having goosebumps like I had 6 years ago when the Blood of The Dead trailer was released.
However, a day before release, they show all the wonder weapons available on the map, give you several shots and explain their abilities, reveal the new enemy type in detail, and show you the man we’ve been waiting to see IN THE GAME since Vanguard Zombies in a damn video! To be fair, this isn’t killing the hype entirely, but it just makes it less fun than it could be.
Now, if these Call of Duty Intel Drops trailers were for Multiplayer, I’d be more than glad to watch them. Getting to know the new weapons and attachments is what I really need before jumping into Black Ops 6‘s sweaty lobbies. But for the Zombies, a game mode all about secrets and easter eggs, it just isn’t a cool advertisement strategy, right?
So, while I appreciate all the work and I really am excited for the Citadelle des Morts map, I don’t think I’d ever watch the Intel Drops trailers of Black Ops 6 Zombies or any other Call of Duty that has this game mode in them.
Ultimately, I want to experience finding the super cool magical swords myself, not to be told where to find them, and I’d be so much happier to find Gabriel Krafft, the man who connects Black Ops 4 Zombies to BO6 on my own, and jump out of my chair for seeing his wrinkled face and Aether-filled eyes. Thank Richtofen they didn’t spoil the music already.
