According to the All-Time Best-Selling PS4 and Xbox Titles List, the massive decade-spanning Call of Duty franchise has just sold 60 million units. It is no surprise that the Call of Duty series was able to reach such a number because the franchise has been selling exceptionally well ever since it was inception back in 2004. In this article, we will go over everything we know so far regarding Call of Duty’s sales on the PS4 and Xbox One.

A 131.2 Billion Dollar Game Industry

Video games over several years and generations have become a fundamental part of the entertainment industry, with the market expected to grow to reach over $131.2 billion by this year. This huge growth is primarily impacted by the massive demand for Triple AAA titles such as the Call of Duty Series.

According to recent data gathered by League Of Betting (you can read their article here), 4 games in the series reached a total of 60.5 million sold units and were ranked on both of the all-time best-selling PS4 and Xbox titles lists at the start of 2020. For the PS4 list, the games were Call of Duty Black Ops 3, Call Of Duty Infinite Warfare, Call of Duty WWII, all combined for a total of 36.9 million units sold.

Black Ops 3 sold the most out of all of the listed titles, reaching 15.09 million and ranked second on the list. The game has also sold over six million copies in both North America and Europe for the PS4 since it was released in 2015.

Cod WWII was fourth on the list, it sold 13.4 million copies, and because of its great success in Europe, it sold 6.21 million back in January of this year. In ninth place was Call of Duty Infinite Warfare, where it sold a total of 8.48 million units for the PS4 so far.

Modern Warfare

The three games that sold well on PS4 were also placed in the top games for the Xbox, with Black Ops 3 again being the best selling amongst them. Call of Duty Advanced Warfare was also ranked amongst the games making the total of all 4 games 23.6 million sold units.

Black Ops 3 again ranked second on the list selling over 7.37 million copies. Ranked third was Call of Duty WWII, with a total of 6.23 million units sold. Advanced Warfare was placed sixth on the list, with a total of 5.22 million units sold so far. The data gathered by the league of betting also shows that infinite warfare ranked tenth as the most sold title for Xbox, with a total of 4.79 million units sold.

Based on the data gathered by the League of betting, we can be sure that the Cod franchise is still a huge player in the gaming market. Older titles in the series consistently sell well on major consoles and are surely destined to do just as well on the next generation.
