Today, Activision the Call of Duty franchise received a trailer announcement for a new game that further expands the reach of the series outside the realm of video games. This trailer shows off Call of Duty: The Board Game, a completely new endeavor for the series as a whole. Although the trailer is short and contains very little information about the game, it does well building hype for something fans didn’t know they wanted.
Call of Duty: The Board Game Brings COD Strategy to the Tabletop
So far, Activision’s new board game will be a strategy game that closely follows the series it is based on. Despite Call of Duty having some table-top games in the past, like the Call of Duty: K/D Party Game, the new Call of Duty: The Board seems to be an experience that will more closely follow the tone and story of the original games. Currently, Activision has not revealed too much about the gameplay, however, many have speculated that is will include some traditional Call of Duty game modes.
In this short half-a-minute trailer, Call of Duty: The Board Game shows off very little, besides some images of characters, and the sound of a ticking clock. The game will supposedly feature miniatures of iconic soldiers and weapons from the Call of Duty series, potentially making it a large cross-over for both past and present characters. Additionally, the game will include a large variety of scenarios, modes and more.
A Kickstarter Is Planned for Fall 2023
The company Activision has also planned a Kickstarter campaign for this new game set for fall 2023. Here, eager fans will be able to donate in an effort to help aid in the game’s development. Donating to the campaign could lead to more features in the game, including both maps and game modes, though the game has not announced any official goals yet.
Finally, Call of Duty: The Board Game will release sometime in 2024.
