At Thursday’s Xbox Series X event, Microsoft showed off a rather interesting title in development with one of their partners. Call of the Sea is a story-rich adventure coming from developer Out of the Blue and publisher Raw Fury. You’ll know Raw Fury from games like Dandara and the Kingdom series, but Out of the Blue is a new developer. They’re based in Madrid, Spain, and are looking to debut strong with this beautiful looking adventure game. The team had a trailer to show off at the event, which you can find here.

Call of the Sea

Call of the Sea puts you in the shoes of Norah, a young woman who recently lost her husband. He was off on an expedition, which has mysteriously vanished. Norah’s off on an adventure into the isolated reaches of the South Pacific to figure out just what happened and get some closure. Little did she know though, her husband and his expedition found more than some old artifacts. Will Norah be able to piece everything together, or will her husband and his expedition become an everlasting mystery? Call of the Sea is planned for release on the Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC, with no release date just yet. We’ll let you know when that changes.

From the first impressions though, Call of the Sea looks surprisingly promising. The art style reminds me of Sea of Thieves, only more refined and cinematic which is more than a welcome shakeup. The adventure aspect looks like it’ll be really enjoyable too. Each location shown in the trailer looks very distinct, which should make for a unique experience through to the end. With some added on puzzles, Call of the Sea has endless potential to rival the likes of Tacoma and Gone Home. I hope they execute this one well.

What are your initial impressions of Call of the Sea? Think you’ll give it a chance when it releases? Tell us your thoughts, and stay tuned here at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
