The rumored drama between Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello has gotten even more interesting. Just days after Carpenter seemingly shaded Cabello on her Short n’ Sweet album, the “Havana” singer has appeared in a new video singling along to Carpenter’s “Espresso.” Fans can’t get over the timing of the clip’s release.
Are Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello Feuding Over Shawn Mendes?
On Thursday, Aug. 29, Capital FM posted a video of Cabello participating in their “Finish the Lyric” challenge. As part of the game, the star had to complete popular lyrics without being given the artist or song titles. She sang tracks by the Jonas Brothers, Tyla, and Tate McRae. At one point, she was given “Espresso.” Cabello nailed the line, “I’m working late ’cause I’m a singer. Oh, he looks so cute wrapped around my finger.” However, she accidentally messed up the rest of the lyrics. Despite the blunder, Cabello happily continued with the game.
Considering there have been rumors Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello have been feuding ever since the release of Short n’ Sweet, fans got a kick at the timing of the video’s release. “Runs to make popcorn and enjoy the comments,” someone wrote. “THE TIMING IS INSANEEEE,” another fan commented. “This is so messy, awkward, and iconic at the same time,” another person chimed in.
While some thought the video would only add fuel to the fire, others hoped it was a sign that there was no bad blood between Sabrina Carpenter and Camila Cabello and their “feud” has just been made up by fans. “I never found any sense in the Camila and Sabrina beef,” one fan commented. “We need Camila to collab with Sabrina,” another wrote.
Who Is “Short n’ Sweet” Really About?
The rumors of a feud between the stars began last week when Carpenter dropped her Short n’ Sweet album. Since some of her songs appeared to be about a love interest who got back together with his ex-girlfriend, many fans speculated she was talking about Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello. After all, the on-again, off-again couple were spotted kissing in April 2023 just weeks after Mendes was seen hanging out with Carpenter that March.
Interestingly, all three stars are confirmed to be attending the 2024 VMAs on Sept. 11. Of course, many fans will be watching in case they interact throughout the show.
