Camryn Grimes is a famous actress from The Young and the Restless. She joined the CBS soap opera in 1997 as Cassie Newman. In 2005, she left the show when her character was killed off. But in 2014 she returned full-time, this time as Mariah Copeland, Cassie’s long-lost twin sister. Mariah became a fan favorite and her relationship with Tessa Porter made them a popular couple.
In May 2022, Mariah and Tessa, aka Teriah, married in what became the show’s first same-sex wedding. After their wedding, the newlyweds have been back burnered to focus on other characters. But when and if the couple is show again, Grimes has a few storyline ideas.

Things have been relatively quiet for Teriah in recent years. After marrying, the couple adopted a daughter named Aria and brought a new home. Yet, as soap fans know, drama is always looming for married couples.
Most of the time the marital problems consist of infidelity or splitting up and getting back together. So could Mariah and Tessa be headed down that same path?
Not if Camryn Grimes has her way.
In a new interview with Soap Opera Digest, The Young and the Restless star admits to hating the recycled plots.
I’ve always said this in interviews: limiting a married couple on the show to obstacles that only involve cheating or splitting up or getting back together, I think, is not always the strongest move, although it is compelling. And yes, we are on a soap opera, people will cheat and they will divorce and they will get back together.
The actress went on to explain she’d love a story of couples staying committed to each other through their challenges.
I think there are also very real stories that you can tell between people who are committed to each other and stay committed, but struggle through something. I would always be welcome to any story that involves working with Cait [Fairbanks, Tessa], but I would always like to see something like, ‘Let’s get creative and see what would test this couple, maybe without breaking them up.
The Daytime Emmy winner then described an example of real life challenges some couples face.
That’s kind of what real life is. I’ve heard it from people who have been married for years, decades, that there are periods of time where you just don’t like the other person, like you’re just not getting along and not seeing eye to eye for whatever reason. I think that’s very real and probably hard to navigate.
Viewers will be seeing more of Camryn Grimes onscreen with Mariah involved in Sharon Newman’s. With Sharon’s bipolar disorder having her spiraling out of control, Mariah is trying to help her mother.
Although the storyline is about Sharon, it does affect her loved ones. Mariah’s heart will break at seeing her mother fall apart, but she knows she has to be strong to help Sharon. With Tessa’s love and support, Mariah can get through this difficult time.
