When the gang visits Cosmo Canyon in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you discover that although Red XIII puts up a gruff exterior, he’s just a teenager. As such, the voice he initially puts on is just a front. Once his true age among those in his lineage is revealed, his voice changes to a much higher-pitched, adolescent voice. Once you pass this chapter of the story, his voice remains the same.
Can You Change Red XIII’s Voice in FF7 Rebirth?
No, you cannot change Red XIII’s voice back in FF7 Rebirth. He will continue to have the same high-pitched voice throughout the remainder of the game. In fact, if there were scenes involving him that you didn’t complete before doing the Chapter 10 quests, you can go back to find that his lines will be dubbed with the new voice. As a result, I didn’t even get a chance to listen to some of these previous lines in his “first” voice. Once Chapter 10 has been completed, you’re stuck with the new voice.
If that’s something that might bother you, then ensure that you’ve completed all that there is to finish in the previous regions. There have been patches that change the dialogue in certain scenes, so it’s possible that a patch will be released that tackles Red’s voice. In a way, it’s very funny that despite him being well into his forties, he sounds like he’s 15 years old. He even looks like he’s 40, but that could very well be that his species is inherently like that. Regardless, one’s voice is very much a part of character development as the game progresses.
