PC gamers rejoice – Nightingale is finally available for Early Access. This new crafting-survival game from Inflexion Games drops players into the Fae world of Nightingale and tasks them with one goal: survive. Described by the publisher as a “Gaslamp Fantasy” world, the world of Nightingale is beautifully rendered and it shows how much importance Inflexion placed on the aesthetic of the world. With this in mind, you might be looking at your Realmwalker and wondering if that same priority for aesthetic transferred to your character. Many players have asked – can you change your looks in Nightingale?
Nightingale: Can You Change Your Look?
Unfortunately, the answer is no – or at least, not yet. Once you leave the character customization section at the beginning of the game, you cannot change your character’s appearance in Nightingale. Like a lot of games nowadays, Nightingale has a fairly robust character creator, and the very first step allows you to choose between 78 appearance presets – 39 female, 39 male. Once you’ve picked your preset, you can select your ancestry. This is an interesting twist as far as customization goes, since the game lets you pick how your parents, grandparents, and even your great-grandparents looked, and then which of their traits your character inherited. In other words, it’s possible to rig the genetic lottery in Nightingale.
After you’ve sorted out your inheritance, the rest of your appearance is down to a collection of swatches and sliders. This includes everything from skin color and hairstyle/color to head shape, eye color(s), and even the size of your pupils and the condition of your teeth. Some of the character creator appears to be in development still, and you can’t change your body at all. Still, at least they’ve got a good array of choices regarding how you want your character to look because, according to a message at the start of the character creator, you’re stuck with your appearance options for now. Inflexion plans to add support for later character appearance changes “in the future”, but nothing’s available yet.
