Roblox is known for its diverse experiences, but they don’t pop into existence out of nowhere. Every game has a creator behind it, and their creations all start with Roblox Studio. Studio gives devs the tools they need to create and launch their own game. It’s natural to wonder if you can pair the game dev process with the convenience of mobile. Unfortunately, most game engines are too big and complicated to work on mobile, eating up your processing power and overheating your device. So, is there a way to get Roblox Studio on mobile? Here’s what you need to know.
Roblox Studio Guide
Unfortunately, you can’t get Roblox Studio on mobile. Like other engines, it’s simply too demanding for most phones. It doesn’t mean you can’t try to find a workaround, but heating issues, awful FPS, and crashes are likely if things work at all. Trying to download Studio from the official Roblox site simply produces a “Not available for this device” message. It goes on to say that “Studio is only available for download on Windows and macOS desktops.” If you want to get started there, here’s what you need to do:
- Launch Roblox
- Navigate to Settings (the three-dot icon)
- Select “Create”
- Navigate to “Get Roblox Studio”
- Click “Download”
Alternatively, you can download Roblox Studio straight from the official Roblox site. The good news is it’s easy to set up and get started on PC and Mac. Those devices are also a lot less likely to overheat and crash while you design the blocky action RPG or cat cafe game of your dreams. Though Roblox Studio could get a mobile port someday, it’s best not to hold your breath. Shrinking an engine’s UI to fit smaller mobile screens is no easy task.
