This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

You’re not alone if you’ve been juggling multiple Fortnite accounts on different devices. Before cross-play support was introduced, many players had to create new accounts for each device. Currently, this isn’t a requirement, leading to the question, can you merge these separate Fortnite accounts into one Epic Games account? Here we’ll break down the topic, and ultimately deliver the news you probably didn’t want to hear (sorry in advanced).

Is It Possible to Merge Fortnite Accounts?

The short answer is no. Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to merge different Fortnite accounts into one. This means that if you have separate accounts on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch, you won’t be able to combine them into one account. Epic Games has clearly stated that this feature is not currently available.

However, in 2018, when Epic Games introduced cross-play support to Fortnite, players could merge their accounts for a short period. In essence, this account merging feature permitted players to consolidate all their cosmetic items from the Item Shop – purchased on different accounts – into one single account, eliminating the need for repeated purchases. However, as of May 6, 2019, Epic Games discontinued this feature.

However, it is worth mentioning that with the cross-platform feature, you can connect all your devices to one Epic game account and play Fortnite on each. This might be why the publisher allowed players to merge their Fortnite accounts for a short period and disable them. Because any new player can easily connect their different devices to one account, there isn’t a need for the merging feature. So, enabling the merging feature for a short period facilitated any old accounts to merge.

Also, Epic Games might have turned off this feature for many other reasons, such as account security and potential system exploitation. Therefore, most likely, players will not get to merge their different Fortnite accounts into one. However, since the cross-platform feature is here to stay, it’s unlikely that account merging will return anytime soon.
