This article is over 2 years old and may contain outdated information.

We’ve been waiting for the arrival of Spider-Man 2 for a long time. With it finally out, many players are eager to jump into the action and grab their favorite web swingers to explore the streets of New York. Besides that, one thing many people look forward to is the combat. Insomniac has always done a fantastic job with how fighting is handled in these games; the third entry isn’t an exception. With many new skills to try, people might be eager to mix and match some of them and switch them on the fly. If you want to avoid committing to certain abilities, we’ll tell you if you can respec in Spider-Man 2.

Is There a Respec Feature in Spider-Man 2?

Sadly, there isn’t as Insomniac didn’t include a respec feature in Spider-Man 2. While this might be bad for many, there are many activities in the game, meaning you won’t be craving for skill points that fast. However, it is crucial to choose wisely, as the skills are permanent once you unlock them. Besides, this entry features the largest skill tree that focuses on different abilities for certain characters.

Skill Tree Explained

Since you can’t respec in Spider-Man 2, we thought explaining how the skill tree works would be great. In Insomniac’s latest title, you have three skill trees—one for Miles, another for Peter, and the last one for the two of them.

As you can imagine, the ones for each individual character focus on their skills. For Miles, you can expect upgrades to his iconic Venom abilities, which we saw during his debut title. The combined skill tree focuses on traversal options and other nifty things both Spider-Men can use outside of combat. So, when you choose your skills, focus on your favorite friendly neighbor or give both of them an upgrade to explore the city better.

Before we wrap up this, let’s sum up the important points:

  • You can’t respec in Spider-Man 2.
  • Each Spider-Man has its own skill tree.
  • There’s a third skill tree that’s shared between Miles and Peter.

Knowing this is crucial, as it’ll let you manage your points better. And, as we already mentioned, there are many things to do, so there are always ways to level up and rack up those sweet skill points.

And, if you want to learn a bit more about how traversal mechanics work in this entry, here’s a video from our team showcasing how smooth exploring the city that never sleeps is.
