Bure, a member of the Fuller House cast, was labeled as homophobic by her co-star Miss Benny. The accusation stemmed from a video posted by the Glamourous star on her TikTok account. In the video, she relieved the moments of versatility in her different roles in the TV series she starred in. On each, she attached a note of the major highlights attached to them. The note for Fuller House caught the attention of several followers because it hinted at Benny surviving homophobia on set. When a curious fan probed further to know the Fuller House cast member responsible for Miss Benny’s homophobic comment, Benny made another video.
“Fuller House? Who was homophobic, was it Candace,” the follower enquired.
In the new video, Benny gave details of the occurrence and hints pointing to the homophobic cast member.

“One of the Tanner sisters was very publicly… not for the girls if that makes sense,” she said. “I remember I got sat down by the writers and the studio to basically warn me how this person allegedly was trying to get the character removed and not have a queer character on the show,” she revealed.
The Love, Victor star also hinted that the particular Tanner sister isn’t supportive of the queer community. Although she didn’t mention any names, her followers worked with the hint she provided, pointing fingers at Bure for Benny’s homophobic comments. Barely hours after the video dropped, Bure denied claims that she tried to eliminate Benny’s character from the series. In a statement to E! News, she said:
“I never asked Miss Benny’s character to be removed from Fuller House and did not ask the writers, producers or studio executives to not have queer characters on the show.”
Candace Cameron Bure Faces Backlash Over Traditional Marriage Comment
Miss Benny’s homophobic comments aren’t the first time allegations of homophobia have trailed Bure. In 2022, she was heavily criticized for her comment while promoting her Christmas movie, A Christmas…Present. When asked if her movies would feature queer content, she revealed that they would keep the core of traditional marriages. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, the Fuller House cast member said:
“I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”
Despite being called out multiple times by several people over her alleged homophobia, Bure insists she is not homophobic.
