Cardi B is caught in yet another fashion controversy. The rapper recently turned heads in Paris by bringing an unusual accessory to theย Schiaparelli fall/winter 2025 couture show: a live crow. The bird was kept on a leash as Cardi B posed for photos. While some thought it was iconic, others accused her of animal abuse.
Making A Statement
Cardi B sure knows how to get people talking. She never fails to surprise fans with her red carpet looks. This week, she debuted one of her most shocking outfits yet while attending the Schiaparelli fashion show.
For the occasion, Cardi B donned a custom black Schiaparelli gown adorned with pearls. The statement piece featured an oversized neckline that extended to the top of her head. She also wore her hair in a sleek bob and accessorized with large pearl earrings, long black gloves, and yes, a live crow.
The bird gently sat on Cardi B’s right hand and was kept in place using a long leash. In a clip posted on YouTube, the crow can be seen moving its head around and flapping its wings as various photographers snapped pictures of it and Cardi B. In a viral video on X, the musician can also be heard asking everyone to lower their voices so they wouldn’t spook the animal.
Cardi B Animal Abuse Accusations Spread Online
Despite doing her best to be as careful as possible with the bird, Cardi B received backlash for bringing a live animal with her to the event. “Is this a fashion show or a zoo?” one person asked. “That’s animal abuse,” claimed another. “Animals are not fashion accessories,” read a third comment. “Another reason for me to dislike her,” someone else said.
However, others didn’t see a problem with it since Cardi B likely only held the bird for a few minutes to get some pictures. Some even praised her for calling out photographers for almost scaring the crow. “Cardi B out here shushing paparazzi for a crow’s peace iconic!” one person wrote. One fan also pointed out that it’s possible the crow had a caretaker nearby in case it became distressed. “That bird’s probably got its own glam team and a seat at the after party,” they said.
All to Promote Her New Album
So, what’s the story behind Cardi B’s outfit? Her decision to use a crow as an accessory is a reference to her upcoming album’s cover art. Am I the Drama?, which marks her second full-length record, will drop on Friday, Sept. 19. It’ll include the rapper’s latest single, “Outside,” which was released on June 20. It’ll also feature her 2020 single “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion and 2021 single “Up.”
Fans are excited for the album to drop since it’ll be Cardi B’s first project since Invasion of Privacy in 2018. Rumor has it that Am I the Drama? will address her divorce from Offset, who is the father of her three children: Kulture, Wave, and Blossom.
