Cardi B has come under fire after stealing the attention at the Balenciaga Paris Fashion Week show in the company of her husband Offset. The couple, who most recently dealt with a cheating dispute that left them dragging each other on social media, turned heads on Wednesday when they graced the Balenciaga show in all-black ensembles. Aside from their heart-stopping fashionable outfits, their PDA-packed appearance proved for good that they are at peace with each other once again.
Cardi B Slayed at the Balenciaga Show
The mom of two shared glimpses into her eventful day on Instagram in a string of photos and videos following the fashion show. The first photo showed Cardi B posing in front of a black gate, with a dramatic white furry coat hung around her, masking the sequined catsuit she had on underneath. She ditched the white overcoat in the next shot, opting instead for an extra-large bow bag, which she clasped with both hands.
She also shared a picture of herself walking through the event center, as the paps surrounded her with their cameras at the ready. Another of Cardi’s photos showed her standing beside her husband, Offset, who matched her stylish fit with his windbreaker jacket and baggy pants. The couple undoubtedly outshined the other attendees at the event.
Singer Under Fire for Endorsing Balenciaga
Despite pulling off one of the best outfits at the Paris Fashion Week, it wasn’t all praise for Cardi B and her husband. In fact, fans have taken to social media to slam the duo for attending the Paris Fashion Week Balenciaga show given the brand’s recent child abuse scandal. Reacting to Cardi’s post, one fan wrote,
“The brand/company that traffics/grooms kids?”
`Another wrote,
“Why Would you represent a brand that sex-trafficks kids and let it be known they do? You’re a mother yourself. Come on man, be for real. Sad.”
Another commenter referenced Cardi’s awareness of the brand’s treatment of children. According to them, fighting for the rights and safety of kids, and then going on to support a brand that “promotes the assault of minors” made her predatory. One commenter questioned Cardi’s motives, especially after most celebrities have since snubbed the brand. They wrote,
“Cardi, I’m genuinely curious why do you still support Balenciaga after the child bondage scandal. also when the woman posed next to a book of a known child predator… why can’t celebrities come together and not associate anymore, they posted it right in our faces.”
Some threatened to withdraw their fandom as they wished not to be associated with someone promoting a company that supports child abuse. However, some fans came to Cardi B’s defense, pointing out that Balenciaga has since apologized for their erroneous campaign featuring kids holding teddy bears in bondage. One wrote,
“Ummm well that Balenciaga band/protest didn’t last very long lol they look beautiful as usual.”
Balenciaga’s child abuse issue represents one of the biggest scandals befalling the fashion brand. While they may not recover from the campaign and its repercussions anytime soon, there’s no denying Balenciaga’s place as one of the topmost brands in the industry, which they proved during the Paris Fashion Week events.
