Before the passing of Carrie Fisher, her character was to have a substantial role in the upcoming Star Wars movie. After her death, Lucasfilm confirmed her character, Leia would be in episode IX which would be done with unseen footage from Force Awakens.
Recently in an interview on ABC news Todd Fisher; Carrie Fisher‘s Brother said
“There’s a lot of minutes of footage. I don’t just mean outtakes”This is unused, new content that could be woven into the storyline. That’s what’s going to give everybody such a great kick.
Sadly Fisher died last year while finishing up The Last Jedi. With fans puzzled over where this will leave Leia’s story after The Last Jedi; Lucasfilm has been searching for ways to incorporate her episode IX. luckily they had tons of footage from 2015 Star Wars Force Awakens.
Director of episode IX J.JAbrams says;
” Finding a truly satisfying conclusion to the Skywalker saga without her eluded us. We were never going to recast or use a CG character. With the support and blessing from her daughter, Billie Lourd, we have found a way to honor Carrie’s legacy and role as Leia in Episode IX by using unseen footage we shot to in Episode VII.”
Details were not given in full of how they were doing this to be done. but they seem to be very proud of what they are accomplishing.
Todd talked about how he wanted some of his sister projects she had been working on to be shown He says:
“A lot of things of hers that she’s written that will someday be shared. There’s a lot more to come from Carrie”.
Star Wars Episode IX will be coming to theaters in December 2019. What are your thoughts on the new movie? Let us know in the comments below.
