Cassie Ventura is finally speaking out following the release of the 2016 video that saw her get assaulted by Diddy. The singer’s truth was upheld when surveillance footage from the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in L.A. recently surfaced. In it, Diddy, who was wearing just a towel, attacked his girlfriend in the corridor. The music mogul battered her, kicking and dragging her by her hair. Cassie has now shared what was going through her mind during the harrowing time.
The singer released a statement on social media almost a week after the clip’s release. “Thank you for all of the love and support from my family, friends, strangers and those I have yet to meet,” Cassie began her message. “The outpouring of love has created a place for my younger self to settle and feel safe now, but this is only the beginning.” Proceeding to hit the nail on the head, the Me & U songstress wrote:
“Domestic Violence is THE issue. It broke me down to someone I never thought I would become. With a lot of hard work, I am better today, but I will always be recovering from my past.”

The media personality then turned her focus to other abuse victims. Cassie urged that everyone open their hearts to “believing victims the first time.” According to her, “It takes a lot of heart to tell the truth out of a situation that you were powerless in.” The 37-year-old then advised victims to reach out to their loved ones and not cut them off. She concluded the moving post by writing:
“This healing journey is never ending, but this support means everything to me. Thank you.”

The post received a heavy outpour of love from colleagues and fans alike.
Diddy Disgusted By His Actions In Apology Video
Cassie and the Bad Boys Record founder were an item for 11 years, from 2007 to 2018. In November 2023, she sued the rapper, accusing him of sexually assaulting her and subjecting her to physical abuse throughout most of their relationship. The lawsuit was settled within a day of its filing.
Following the release of the damning surveillance footage, Diddy offered an apology in a video uploaded on Instagram. Looking somber, the Coming Home artist declared:
“It’s so difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, but sometimes you gotta do that. I was f–ed up, I mean I hit rock bottom. But I make no excuses. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I’m disgusted.”

The rapper confessed that he checked himself into rehab and therapy to deal with his issues. “I’m so sorry. But I’m committed to being a better man each and every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I’m truly sorry,” he concluded the statement.
