Animals can do the darndest things and never fail to put a smile on our faces. That’s one of the many reasons why we love them so much. You may’ve seen an elephant play the drum. But have you ever witnessed a cat sing its little heart out? In a hilarious viral clip that was recently shared to Reddit, the cat has well and truly been let out of the bag when an incredibly talented feline with a penchant for opera interrupted her owner — a classically-trained singer– mid-performance, with humorous and heartwarming results.
The 39-second snippet kicks off during a solo session, with Mexico-based singer Maura Nava as she practices singing a piece of operatic music. Moments after the clip begins, her cat Maximino joins in on the fun and hops onto the table in front of the camera, entering the frame. This looks like it could be a common occurrence as the singer rolls her eyes and appears a little exasperated by her cat’s lack of decorum.
Suddenly, Maximino steals the limelight and begins copying her owner by meowing in time with the piano music in the background, staring directly into the camera. The singer’s initial frustration then gives way to laughter as the diva-like feline takes center stage and outshines her owner’s efforts. The remainder of the clip devolves into hysterical giggling and guffawing, with the owner shocked by Maximino’s newly-discovered talent.
As the video continues to gain momentum on social media, the internet was quick to jump in and voice their reactions to the feline crooner. On the whole, netizens were extremely impressed with Maximino’s phenomenal performance. One Redditor chimed in with,
Meanwhile, another commenter added: “Now this is quality content“.
Elsewhere, a third impressed user wrote: “The cat was trying to hit the notes and mimic the meter… wild“.
While the singer and talented feline continue to be close companions to this day, Maura Nava spends more time as a choir director rather than a performer these days. One thing’s for sure: Maximino absolutely deserves their 15 minutes of fame. Heck, I’d pay good money to see Maximino perform live, and I’m sure I’m not the only one, eh?
