Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding had a stacked guest list. From Oprah Winfrey and Kim Kardashian to Leonardo DiCaprio and Orlando Bloom, so many celebrities made the trip to Italy to see the couple tie the knot. One major Hollywood star who wasn’t in attendance, however, was Charlize Theron. The Fast X actress confirmed that she wasn’t invited to the festivities. In response, she shared some choice words for those who did attend the lavish ceremony.
Charlize Theron Reacts to the Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Wedding
Charlize Theron mentioned Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding while delivering a speech at her fifth annual Block Party for her Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. The charity event took place on Saturday, June 28, at the Universal Studios lot in Los Angeles. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Theron joked that she and all of the celebrities in the room with her “might be the only people” who didn’t get invited to Bezos and Sánchez’s wedding. She then shaded the couple’s wedding guests by saying, “But that’s okay because they suck and we’re cool.”
Afer thanking everyone for participating in the fundraiser, the Gringo star proceeded to discuss immigration policy, women’s rights, LGBTQ+ issues, and gender-based violence affecting the United States and the rest of the world. “This isn’t just policy, it’s personal,” she said, before raising awareness about foreign aid cuts in her home country of South Africa.
Celebrities who attended the charity event included Charlize Theron’s Old Guard 2 costars KiKi Layne, Henry Golding, and Marwan Kenzari. Content creator Lilly Singh was also present, along with Hot Ones host Sean Evans and singer Reneé Rapp.
The Party of the Year
Charlize Theron’s comments about the Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez wedding come just a day after the couple married. According to People, the billionaire and journalist tied the knot in Venice, Italy, on Friday, June 27. The ceremony was held on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore following days of wedding celebrities around the city. A number of familiar faces were seen in Venice for the occasion, including Kim Kardashian, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, and their mother Kris Jenner.
Sánchez’s Blue Origin crewmate Gayle King was also in attendance. However, Katy Perry was a no show. Considering she and Sánchez became good friends following their trip to space in April, her absence was unfortunate. The singer likely couldn’t be there due to her Lifetimes tour. However, even if she could attend, some fans speculate she may have skipped anyway to avoid Orlando Bloom at the wedding following the recent news of their breakup.
Apart from the Lord of the Rings star, actors who also made the guest list were Leonardo DiCaprio and Sydney Sweeney. Meanwhile, other notable attendees were Karlie Kloss, Usher, Tom Brady, and Bill Gates.
