Director of Wonder Woman, Patty Jenkins, hit Twitter to show fans a glimpse of Kristen Wiig as villain Barbara Minerva, AKA Cheetah, in Wonder Woman: 1984. For those not aware, in the comics, Cheetah is known to be the archenemy of Wonder Woman. Dr. Minerva was born an heiress to a large fortune and became an archaeologist who studied a tribe in Africa. Now, there is no telling how her DC comics origins will translate to the big screen, so we will have to wait to see what Jenkins does with the character.

While it’s not Kristen Wiig looking like Cheetah, the photo shows her as Dr. Barbara Minerva. From the photo, there isn’t much to tell about her story at all. We see Wiig dressed in 80s style attire standing in a museum surrounded by stuffed animals that all appear to be from Africa. She’s staring at something that’s just off camera, but one can assume it could only be a cheetah. As for what Cheetah’s outfit will be, we may have to wait to find out when the sequel opens.
Jenkins post comes two weeks after she tweeted photos of lead superhero Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and the return of pilot Steve Trevor. Which is odd due to his fate at the end of the first Wonder Woman flick.

Wonder Woman faced a devastating opponent in Ares during her first blockbuster hit, so it will be interesting to see how she will face off against Cheetah. We don’t know much about the sequel other than its title Wonder Woman: 1984. It’s obviously set in the 80s and the villain is Cheetah. The 2017 film was a smash at the box office and showed the DC universe can produce great films. Will the sequel be enough to trip Marvel up? Fans will have to wait until November 1, 2019, to find out.
