Chris Hardwick has been chosen by Gearbox Studios to return to his character from the Tales from the Borderlands for the new Borderlands 3. Borderlands 3 is returning Hardwickโs character, Vaughn. Vaughn is a character from the Tales from the Borderlands TellTale game. His character is being brought for the new story in place for Borderlands 3. Gearbox Studios confirmed to the Verge Hardwick will be voicing the returning character. This is after a few months since allegations from his former girlfriend, Chloe Dykstra.
The former Nerdist writer and AMC host of the Talking Dead, Talking Bad, and a few others a few months back was assumed from the allegations to have been the one who sexually and mentally assaulted actress Chloe Dykstra. Dykstra, in 2018, posted an article to Medium about the mental and sexual abuse by her former boyfriend. Hardwick himself was not named directly by Dykstra in the post but many in the community believed it to be him. Hardwick, with further investigation, was later pulled from the Nerdist site along with his posts and pulled from the AMC network as host of the shows. His appearance of that yearโs San Diego Comic Con was also pulled as well. After some time assessing, AMC brought back Hardwick to the shows and Nerdist brought back his name to the About Page on the site. A Nerdist spokesperson went on to say,
โis not intended to imply any change in our ongoing support of women and victims, nor does it change our business relationship with Hardwick, which concluded in 2017.โ
Borderlands 3 has been surrounding with negativity recently with the choice to keep Hardwick and with removing Troy Bakerโs character from the newest story of Borderlands 3. Troy Baker voiced Hardwickโs friend in the game, Rhys. Rhys is confirmed to not be coming back to the Borderlands 3 story. Baker himself said he was never contacted to do voicing for the character by Pitchford, while Pitchford told Baker refused to return. For now, Bakerโs character Rhys is not coming back to the game. The most recent negativities for Gearbox and the allegations surrounding them its difficult for anyone to trust Gearbox. With everything though, Borderlands 3 is looking to be an amazing looking game and the gameplay looks to be innovative and fresh.
