Fans and celebrities gear up for another Oscars, but first, they will relive last year as Chris Rock‘s Netflix special touches down on the headline-grabbing moment when he got smacked on the face by Will Smith.
Chris Rock and Will Smith must have been the names with the highest searches on the internet immediately after last year’s Oscars ended.
It is hard to forget that following Rock’s joke about Jada Pinkett’s bald head, he got struck in the face by her ever-supportive husband, Will— on the Oscar stage.
A series of events including online debates on who is right and wrong, the Academy Awards ban on Will Smith, and apologies from Will followed.
Rock refused to give in to pressure to address the slap during any of his shows. The actor and comedian who toured the country last year told his audience:
“Anyone who says words hurt has never been punched in the face. I’m not a victim.”
He later shared with his fans in Boston while on tour, “so at some point, I’ll talk about that [expletives] And it will be serious and funny.”
The wait is finally over for fans as Chris Rock’s Netflix special set to debut on Saturday is where he intends to talk about it.

Chris Rock’s Netflix Special Will Address The Famous Oscar Slap
Chris Rock’s Netflix special is the network’s first-ever life event, and would surely come with its own spice as the comedian intends to talk about the slap.
It will begin with a pre-taped show welcoming the best in the game. The lineup will include Amy Schumer, George Lopez, Jerry Seinfeld, Matthew McConaughey, Arsenio Hall, Paul McCartney, and Ice T.
Additionally, fans will watch a post-show revealing Dana Carvey and David Spade as hosts. Details about the shooting site according to the Wall Street Journal is that it will be held at the Hippodrome Theatre in Boston.
Days after Chris Rock’s Netflix special airs, the Academy Awards show will host its own night event, but unlike last year, Will Smith will not be there.
