Hollywood is translating Danish to English. Chris Rock is sitting back on the director’s chair as he is set to helm the American remake of Mad Mikkelsen’s Oscar-winning film, Another Round. Stuart Bloomberg wrote an initial draft, but a new writer will be brought in to pen the script with the comedian-turned-director.
The 2020 film followed a group of teachers who did a secretive experiment to see the benefits of maintaining a certain blood-alcohol level. As expected from consistently drinking and keeping alcohol in your system at all times, the black comedy shines a light on how there is little to gain from constantly drinking. Alongside the Doctor Strange actor, it starred Thomas Bo Larsen, Magnus Millang, and Lars Ranthe.

The director will have some major producing power behind his back, as reported by Deadline. Leonardo DiCaprio will produce with Jennifer Davisson, Brad Weston, and Collin Creighton.
Not many of the films made back home from the Hannibal star have caught international attention, specifically from the U.S. The film, which was directed by Thomas Vinterberg with a script from him and Tobias Lindholm, gained attention for its unique premise and stellar performances. It won the Oscar for Best International Film, with a nomination for Vinterberg’s directing.
Chris Rock leading the charge on Another Round will be his first time directing a feature-length project in a decade. The last film the director helmed was 2014’s Top Five. He has also made 2007’s I Think I Love My Wife and made his debut in 2003 with Head of State. He will also be sitting in the director’s seat for the Martin Luther King Jr. biopic.
