The cast of Thor: Love and Thunder continue to get better and better. According to a report from Collider, Christian Bale is in talks to join the film in an unspecified role.

Although he has starred in many hit films, Christian Bale is undoubtedly best known for his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the Christopher Nolan Dark Knight trilogy. If Bale decides to join Thor: Love and Thunder, it will be his first comic-book movie since The Dark Knight Rises, which hit theaters back in 2012. This news has turned to speculation, as everyone is now throwing in their picks on who Bale could portray in the upcoming MCU film (Bale as Beta Ray Bill would be awesome).

While this could be a significant role for the former Batman, there’s also the possibility that this is just a cameo. After all, Thor: Ragnarok featured a few hilarious celebrity cameos, including Matt Damon, Luke Hemsworth, and Sam Neill. So, it’s not entirely out of the question to believe that Bale will come in to have a brief cup of coffee with the MCU before focusing on his next intense project.

Either way, Thor: Love and Thunder is quickly shaping up to be one of the most anticipated MCU films out of Phase 4. Having Taika Waititi back in the directing chair with Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson reprising their respective roles would have probably garnered a ton of hype on its own. Still, the most noteworthy casting so far has to be that of Natalie Portman. Portman, who has been out of the MCU since 2013’s Thor: The Dark World, will return as Jane Foster. However, this time around, Jane Foster will gain the powers of Thor. It’ll be interesting to see how Marvel adapts this comic storyline to the big screen.
