Christina Aguilera has enjoyed decades of success as an entertainer, and now, at age 43, some may argue that she is looking and sounding better than ever! It is no secret that the “What a Girl Wants” singer’s body has changed within the last year and has become notably smaller. While some have praised her for looking stunning, others are reportedly concerned that she is taking it too far and losing too much weight.
“Christina has been losing weight for the past year and is feeling more confident than she has in ages,” a source told Life & Style. “Still, people are starting to wonder if perhaps she’s taking it too far. She looks smaller than she did in her teen years! It’s really shocking to see in-person.”
The publication also notes that there has been chatter about how the singer lost weight and whether the diabetes/celebrity weight loss drug Ozempic assisted her. But is this criticism of her size valid? Surely, no one should comment negatively on someone else’s body, right? Especially because Aguilera has always been a champion of body positivity. “Christina has always been body-positive, no matter her size,” the source claims. “But the reality is that she does feel some pressure to compete with the younger pop stars.”
Christina Aguilera’s Fans Have Nothing But Praise For Her
The singer is active on social media and has 10 million followers on Instagram alone. On her recent pictures, there has been nothing but praise for the star and her music (in 2024, she celebrated 25 years of making music). “Our queen forevrr,” a comment reads. “Thank you for 25 years of music! You are an icon, legend, and beautiful being! Congratulations and to 25 years more!” another fan shared.
Speaking of Aguilera’s new music, she has been just as excited as fans to discuss her new studio album. “I’ve been accumulating [songs],” she told Glamour in August. “I’m actually dying to get it out. I just haven’t fully had time.” This would be her first English album since 2018 when she released Liberation. As for what you can expect? Something very different from her previous work.
“I didn’t love the bubblegum thing, where you had to play a virgin but not act like one,” she said. “When I was performing ‘Genie’ and ‘What a Girl Wants’ and ‘Come on Over,’ I got bored easily. Creatively, it was one-dimensional.” In the same interview, the singer also addressed the comments about her body and how people took issue with her “getting thicker” after her teenage years.
What does she think about people sharing their opinions? “I have a maturity now where I just don’t give a f*** about your opinion. I’m not going to take it on,” she says. “It must be your responsibility to take up your space. Other people’s opinions of me are not my business.”
Slay, sister!
