Cinemark has introduced a new edition of the recreational gaming league campaign entitled Super League: Rise of Heroes. According to the official FAQ page, Rise of Heroes aims to be the “first and biggest recreational league where gamers of all ages can compete, socialize, and play video games on the big screen in movie theaters worldwide”. Grab your pickaxe and pork chops, because for this round, it’s Minecraft.
Gamers will attend once a week and play with chosen teammates. Teams of four to seven players may play, and every participant receives a limited edition t-shirt. Parents and friends who aren’t into gaming are welcome to attend, and anyone who loves Minecraft is allowed to join in the fun. The only requirements to play are a fully charged laptop with Minecraft 1.9.2 installed and the purchase of a gaming ticket. Unfortunately, iPads and tablets are not compatible at this time.
Super League Gaming has created a customized 90 minute Minecraft game with superhero themes. Gamers will compete to earn points based on their gameplay. To top off the four-week event, the team with the most points will evenly share a college scholarship.
Four weeks League passes are $60.00 on the Cinemark website. To find a Super League near you, check out the upcoming schedule of events here.
