In the first trailer for Clifford the Big Red Dog, fans got a first look at the giant lovable canine and all of his antics.
As seen in the released trailer, middle schooler Emily Elizabeth struggles with bullies at her school. She then makes a wish for her puppy Clifford (given to her by magical animal rescuer Mr. Bridwell) to grow so big that bullies won’t mess with her anymore. As her tears fall on Clifford, he then grows into a 10-foot puppy.
Clifford the Big Red Dog began as a children’s book in 1963. It was proceeded by an animated series on PBS from 2000-2003. Before the release of this movie, however, a new series was released on Amazon Prime in 2019. This film in particular has also been in development since 2012.
Big Antics For a Big Dog
From there, Clifford and his owners get into different antics as they try to become accustomed to his massive size. First, though, they have to find a scale big enough and stop him from accidentally swallowing other dogs temporarily.
The release date for Clifford the Big Red Dog is September 17. It stars Darby Camp as Emily Elizabeth and British comedian Jack Whitehall as her Uncle Casey. The movie also features Tony Hale, Kenan Thompson, and Alan Grier. Another thing to note from the trailer is that somehow, Clifford has the ability to talk. What he says or sounds like is still a mystery to those that have watched the trailer.
With the release of Clifford the Big Red Dog, Paramount is also partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to teach others how to #LoveBig and support their charity. For every heart, like, and share that the trailer gets on a social media platform, $1 is donated to Best Friends Animal Society.
