What’s an excellent romantic comedy if it doesn’t end in a kiss? In the 1995 classic, Clueless stars Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd’s characters shared a kiss on screen. While the scene marked the beginning of their budding romance, Paul Rudd’s kissing skills have continually come under question.
Clueless Star Alicia Silverstone Says Rudd Paul Is A Good Kisser
Let’s take it all back to the 1995 coming-of-age teen comedy-drama, Clueless. The film had several iconic scenes, including the infamous kissing scene between co-stars Alicia Silverstone and Paul Rudd.
Almost three decades after the movie premiered, Alicia has reminisced on her time filming the movie. Per E-News, Alicia gave insight into her part in Clueless, including the veracity of Paul’s kissing prowess:
“True,” she told the Women On Top podcast in a yet-to-be-released episode before quipping, “You didn’t ask me if it was an on-set kiss or an off-set kiss.”
Although the podcast hosts were not convinced of the answer, Alicia didn’t care to elaborate further. Instead, she reminisced about one of the first times she kissed someone on set.
“The cutest story ever is when I was 15, and I did my first movie, The Crush, with Cary Elwes, and we kissed on set, and then I thought he was my boyfriend,” Alicia shared. “So I went to his trailer, and I was like, ‘Was that OK?’ and he was like, ‘Yes, it was OK, it was nice.’ And I just thought in my head like, ‘OK, you’re mine now,'” she concluded.
Paul Rudd’s Kissing Skills
Contrary to Alicia’s claims, the Ant-Man star didn’t think he did an excellent job with the kissing scene. In a 2015 interview with Vulture, Paul revealed that he was nervous and embarrassed about the scene. According to FandomWire, Paul’s manager also testified how poorly he enacted the iconic kissing scene.
Clueless had a massive impact on pop culture. The 1995 coming-of-age movie might be decades old, but the classic still has viewers talking.
