Hosts of the Hearts Breakfast show welcomed Paul Rudd to discuss his new flick Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
Meanwhile, the discussion soon turned to Paul Rudd on his Friends role. The Role Models actor played Mike Hannigan, Phoebe Buffay’s (played by Lisa Kudrow) love interest, and third husband.
One of the hosts asked the actor about his experience filming and with the cast. The cast included Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, Courteney Cox as Monica Geller, and Matt Leblanc as Joey Tribbiani.
Paul replied that he enjoyed filming and said he had a good time during the process. He added, “The whole thing was a bit surreal to be a part of that.”
Paul Rudd Felt Strange About Friends Role
Paul joined the cast in 2002 in its last season and stayed until 2004 when it ended.
The hosts also discovered during the discussion that Paul Rudd felt strange about appearing on the last episode.
The Ghostbusters: Afterlife actor joined Friends 17 episodes late last season. He explained that coming in late, he had no idea he would be in as many episodes as he was.
“But it also felt strange. I was in that last episode and I thought ‘I shouldn’t be here, I’m getting a front-row seat to things I’m not supposed to see’.”
Paul recalled that the cast was in tears, saying, “They were all crying, it was all emotional. I felt very privileged but I was like ‘oh I just want to sit back here and not get in the way.’“
After his short time on Friends, Paul earned more prominent roles on the big and small screens. Understandably, Paul Rudd felt strange seeing everyone cry since he wasn’t a part of the first nine seasons.
However, he also understood his co-stars’ need for the tears, as they invested a lot of time in the series.
