Running from law enforcement rarely ends well, and a recent incident in Miami, Florida, proved exactly why. Based on video from a witness who caught the whole police chase, a man who appeared intent on fleeing police instead stumbled into a series of mishaps, ultimately failing in what we can only describe as one of the clumsiest escape attempts caught on camera.
The incident was captured and uploaded by an Instagram user and motorcycle repair shop pipegobad. It appears the Florida shop owner was out with his one night watching a Miami motorcycle joyride when a police vehicle suddenly broke their formation on the road. It’s not clear what the violations were, but the locals likely called cops on them. Most of them managed to zoom away, but one panicked dirt bike rider started stumbling on his vehicle during the escape:
In the video, you can see the biker struggling to stay upright and eventually falling upon the sight of a police car. In his first attempt to get up and ride away, it appears he twisted the throttle, which led to his dirt bike spinning out of control. By the time the Florida biker got up, the police car was already beside him, and as he tried to speed away, the police officer grabbed and caught him.
Based on certain testimonies from people in the area, the bikers were causing disturbances around the neighborhood during their joyrides. “This is Miami, I live in the area and these guys always ride through the city blasting their bike engines as loud as humanly possible all hours of the night. I’m up late and it doesn’t bug me, but I can’t imagine people with kids dealing with their crap,” according to an alleged Miami local.
People online found the police chase satisfyingly hilarious
It’s not clear whether the other bikers were also caught, but they likely wouldn’t be causing more noise pollution any time soon, seeing as their friend got arrested. The original video has since gone viral and gained 11 million views. Most of the comments were pointing out just how painfully hilarious the police escape attempt was.
“Bro he had like 4 opportunities to recover himself and dip 🤣🤣🤣” as stated by one Instagram user, while another claimed “It’s like running in your dreams 🤦♂️😂”. Of course, others were more level-headed, explaining that “fight or flight backfired hard 😭” especially in such a scary and tense situation against the police.
Given how the Florida biker tried to escape, however, certain commenters believe that his being caught was for the best, as sooner or later, he might get into an accident with how he responds to “emergency” situations. “If you ride like that you should be arrested,” according to a Reddit user, with another stating, “Cops probably saved his life.”
