A Colorado woman’s visit to her son’s apartment complex erupted into a heated confrontation after she says two property managers ordered her out of the pool area, cursed in front of her 10-year-old, and allegedly used a racial slur against her. The explosive exchange was captured on video, although the alleged slur itself does not appear to be clearly heard in the circulating clip.
According to Girlies (@girlies55550), she was visiting her older son at his apartment when she took her 10-year-old to the complex’s pool while dinner was being prepared. She said a woman she identified as a property manager approached them, told her she was not permitted to be there, and cursed at her child. A man she also identified as a property manager later joined the increasingly heated exchange.
While fighting back and forth, Girlies said that the second property manager called her a racial slur. In her video, she asks him, “What’d you call me?” He motions at her and says, “Your video camera doesn’t matter” while ignoring her question. The first property manager keeps telling her she can leave the property. Girlies says, “You cussed at a 10-year-old” and the manager continues cursing, saying she doesn’t care. She tells her, “Get the [expletive] out of here.”
Girlies repeatedly challenged the man to repeat what she claimed he had called her. He did not repeat the alleged slur in the portion of the video shown, instead saying, “I called you someone who doesn’t belong here and someone who’s dumb as [expletive].” When she continued confronting him about the alleged slur, he responded, “Yeah,” although it is unclear from the exchange exactly what he was acknowledging.
After posting, Girlies shared some updates. Most of them revolved around the fact that she continued fighting with these managers even when her young child was present. She explains that she and her son were in the pool when they were approached by the property managers. She said they were “very aggressive and highly intoxicated.” There is no independent confirmation in the video that either person was intoxicated.
Viewers Split Over Colorado Pool Confrontation
Many viewers criticized the conduct shown in the video, particularly the profanity used around children. Others focused on Girlies’ allegation that a racial slur had been used. As one commenter pointed out, “Him being brown skinned and calling someone else a racial slur is crazy.”
Another commenter stated, “The worst part was her cursing the way she was in front of all those children.” One commenter added, “Girl, life is way too short… You can’t fight bigotry.”
What happened before the recording began remains unclear, including why the woman and her son were allegedly told they could not use the pool. Girlies has continued posting about the encounter, but there is no indication yet that the apartment complex or property management company has publicly responded to her allegations.
