God of War Ragnarok has been praised for many things. One of the most notable things about the game, and the series in general, are the sounds. This goes for any sound that comes out of God of War Ragnarok. From the voice acting, to the sound effects, to the music and conception of themes within, God of War has been a franchise reliant on the ear. The official lyrics for the main theme of the game have been recently revealed via composer Bear McCreary. For those who were present during E3 2016, you may have witnessed the presentation for the game’s reveal with a score by the famous composer.
It’s been nearly a decade since the opening theme for the God of War Ragnarok was written. Now, after all that time, the English lyrics to Kratos’ theme have been revealed. McCreary released a blog post entitled ‘The Lyrics to God of War.’ There he worked with members of Santa Monica Studio to review the score and the notes that came with it. This included the Old Norse lyrics from 2015.
What Are the English Lyrics for the God of War Ragnarok Opening Theme?
We’ve got the English lyrics below that you can view now:
Exiled god. Father’s shame. Mother’s hope. Child in pain.
Exiled god. Father’s shame. Mother’s hope. Child in pain. Son of war.
Truth denied. Wounds remain.
Heal his rage.
Exiled god. Storm of hate. Growing fear. Wounds remain. Confront the past.
Divine plague. My sins laid bare.
Trust the boy. Heal his rage.
Curse of blood. Beyond repair.
Trust the boy. Heal his rage.
He will leave. I’ve no redemption.
Exiled god. Father’s shame. Mother’s hope. Child in pain.
Exiled god. Storm of hate. Trust the boy. Heal his rage.
Growing fear. Wounds remain.
He’s in pain. He needs a father not a god. Curse of blood. I’ve no redemption.
Wounds remain. Confront the past.
Because Old Norese is a dead language, during production, he decided to go with Icelandic instead. For translation and vocalist purposes, the language was more clear and obtainable for production.
