In Conan Exiles, Steel is the next item tier above Iron but is also tedious because players have to get several resources to make it. Luckily, in this guide, we’ll go over everything on how to make steel Bars.
How To Make Steel Bars In Conan Exiles
To make Steel, you need to combine both Tar and Brimstone in a Cauldron to create a resource item called SteelFire. Then you will need to combine Steelfire with Iron bars in a Furnace to create Steel bars. But before you can start making Steel bars to your heart’s content, you must first gather up all the required materials, all of which we will go over below. The first resource you will need to make Steel Bars is Brimstone, and it can be found in a few select locations around the map. If you check the list below, you will find these locations listed for you.
- Sinner’s Refuge: -3155, 1704
- Gallaman’s Tomb: -3174, 1900
- Executioner’s Cave: -2872, 2184
- Oasis northeast of Kael’s Stronghold: -2256, 721
- Water area far east of the map: -2872, 2184
Before heading to the first three locations, note that all are guarded with dangerous enemies, so it would be wise to prepare before going to anyone. However, as long as you have decent early game armor such as medium and iron tier weapons, you will be fine. The first three are also located relatively close to the starting area in Conan Exiles, while the others you will have to travel far to get to, so ultimately, you are better off going with the first three. We also recommend checking out the interactive map over at conanexilesmap.com for the exact locations of where to find all Brimstone in the game.
Moving on, the next resource is Tar, and it is simple to get as all you have to do is build a Tannery and then tan either normal hide or thick hides in it. In doing so, you will create tar as it is a by-product of tanning hides. However, you will have first to unlock a Tannery before you can even do this, and you can do by unlocking the Tanner feat when you hit level 10. Then once unlocked, you can then make the Tannery with the following materials listed below.
- 240 Stone
- 160 Wood
- 38 Bark
- 20 Twine
Now that you know how to get both Brimstone and Tar, the next step is to get a Firebowl Cauldron. Cauldrons are unlocked with the Ironmonger recipe at level 40, provided that you already have unlocked the Furniture Maker feat at level 10. To make a Cauldron, you will first need to make an Artisan’s Worktable with 40 wood. Then once the table is crafted, you can then create the Cauldron inside the table. The following listed below is everything you will need to create the Cauldron. When it’s crafted, place it and put both the Tar and Brimstone in it to make Steel fire.
- 50 Iron bars
- 20 Twine
Once you have some Steelfire made, you will then need a Furnace. Furnaces will require 540 stone to craft and are unlocked with the level 10 stone tools feat. Then when you got the Furnace made, take Steelfire and some Iron ingots and throw them inside. After a while, you will get some Steel Ingots, which can then be crafted into Tools, Armor, and Weapons.
After this, that will be everything you need to know on how to get Steel in Conan Exiles. We hope this guide provided the knowledge you required to progress to the next item tier in Conan Exiles, and if it did, feel free to let us know in the comments below.
