Connor McDavid had quite the night. First, he was awarded the NHL’s Art Ross Trophy as the league player who accumulated the most points for the 2016 – 2017 season. Then the Edmonton Oiler captain was announced as the cover athlete for EA Sports upcoming NHL 18 game. To cap off a hockey heavy night in June, the entry draft for the Las Vegas Golden Knights also took place.
“Representing NHL 18 as the cover athlete is an incredible honor,” said Connor McDavid, Edmonton Oilers®. “I’ve played EA SPORTS NHL every year since I was a kid. To appear on the cover, something that has been done previously by so many players that I respect and admire is very exciting. I can’t wait to play NHL 18.”
Like the Las Vegas Knights, there is much that will be new in NHL 18. Creative Attack controls give players more options to “pants” their opponents on offense and stop the rush on the D. When in control of the puck this means toe drags, one-handed deke and between the legs jukes can now be part of your arsenal. When defending Defensive Stick Skill gives multiple poke check options and full control when sweeping the stick. No word yet on when Bryan McCabe’s can opener will also be an option!
Another new addition is NHL THREES which adds an arcade feel to the hockey mode with quicker action and more room on the ice. “There’s a huge shift in the sport of hockey right now, where a new generation of young players are bringing more speed, skill and creativity to the game than we’ve ever seen,” said Sean Ramjagsingh, Lead Producer, NHL® 18. “NHL 18 is all about capturing everything that’s great about the new NHL. Creative Attack controls let our players show off all the skill and highlight-reel moves they can imagine, while NHL THREES brings the speed and excitement of 3-on-3 hockey to the game.”
You can hit the ice with EA Sports NHL18 when it releases September 15, 2017, on PS4 and
