Charmed actress Alyssa Milano finds herself at the center of yet another controversy. Milano shared an Instagram post of herself and her son, Milo Thomas Bugliari, attending Super Bowl LVIII. She captioned the single photo with “My buddy,” but her followers were less endeared by the exchange and more outraged.
Despite her status as a millionaire, Milano still launched a GoFundMe to raise funds for her son’s baseball team. Instead, it became clear that the donations were used to bring Milo to the Super Bowl, a high-profile event where tickets cost anywhere from $9,500 to a whopping $2,000.000.
Alyssa Started a GoFundMe For Her Son’s Baseball Team
Milano had initiated the GoFundMe to allegedly fund the team’s trip to Cooperstown for the 12U Baseball Tournament happening this summer. The fundraiser smashed its $10,000 goal by raising a whopping $15,000. However, many skeptics called out Milano for her ability to afford Super Bowl tickets yet still begging for donations.
“Wow, donations must have been pretty good,” one Instagram user wrote.
“I’m a travel baseball mom. My son’s team is also going to Cooperstown this summer. We are a hard working middle class family and we are paying for our son to go. Would never beg people for money to pay for my kids sports. Entitlement at its best,” another commented.
Both She and Milo Felt the Need to Defend Themselves
In the midst of the backlash, Milano defended her actions. She urged critics to refrain from targeting her son and emphasized the voluntary nature of donations to the GoFundMe campaign.
The day after the Super Bowl, Milano responded to the haters by saying, “gofundme was not for my son! It was for my son’s team and their families. What don’t y’all get?”
“Every parent raises money for their child’s sports teams and many of them do so through GoFundMe. I am no different,” she stated. “As much as I’d love to pay for the entire team and their families for travel, transportation, hotel, food and beverage, uniforms, trading pins and all the things teams do for this kind of trip — I can not afford to do so. Maybe someday.”
Even 12-year-old Milo felt the need to defend himself, OK! Magazine reports. “You do realize I’m only 12 and I love my mom. My mom is the greatest human of all time. She does everything for everyone. Please get off my page. I’m only 12,” he said.
The 51-year-old has been involved in countless scandals over the years. Her Charmed co-stars Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs made accusations against Milano, claiming she caused a rift between the trio and even attributed to Shannen’s departure midway through the show.
